I am based in Herefordshire where I live and work as an artist in my home studio. After studying for four years to attain a BA and an MA in Fine Art, I now follow my own course of self-led study. My inspirations are the themes of absence and presence, and exploration of the finest of lines that divide the two states. How little can one thing exist before it becomes absent? and how much of what we believe to be real is in fact just illusion? I like to combine materials which do not naturally 'sit' together, but instead appear as conflicting with an uneasy dialogue hopefully being inspired in the viewer. I work with found and natural materials as much as possible, aiming at a simplicity in my work, generally using a black and white theme, that negatively impacts as little as possible on the environment, yet I hope leaves a strong impression upon the viewer. |
